How the millennial generation is changing the church culture for the worst

I remember when I was a young boy (8-11) whenever relatives or adults came to visit or we visited them I always had to approach them and greet them.  My dad taught me to always go to an adult and extend my hand to shake theirs and greet them as a sign of respect.  I never gave it much thought and obeyed my father and just thought it was normal and the thing I was supposed to do.  Shoot forward 40 years and I have observed now that when I enter a room or home with young adults or adolescents, they barely greet me or acknowledge me as an adult.  I notice I am the one who has to acknowledge them or they won't say a word.  It struck me one day as I was visiting my wife's family for a barbecue as I went into the backyard, not one young person (around 11-15) acknowledged me even though I was their uncle.  That moment took me back to that young boy who always did greet adults and thought why doesn't this generation of kids show any form of acknowledgement or greet adults?  At that moment I realized it is this particular generation, the so called "entitlement generation", the "everyone gets a trophy generation", the generation that does not feel it has to work for something, but instead deserves something for nothing, the "you owe me" generation is the problem for the churches today.

Unfortunately this mindset has now crept into the modern day church and it's quite ugly to see what's happening in our churches today.  The compromise and accommodation of churches today for this generation is unreal and surreal.  I've been listening to different Pastor's and church leaders talking about how they are having to adapt to the millennial generation and the upcoming generation because they are sophisticated, technologically savvy and progressive and they just aren't jiving with the old way of doing church, and so they've decided to stop coming to church all together.  So now Pastor's are falling into the trap that many parents have fallen into with this young generation and that is we must cater to them and buy their happiness.  They have trapped the church into the entitlement mentality and now churches are finding themselves compromising the Gospel, the message and the basic tenets of how to order a church.  The reality is that the heart of man has not changed since the beginning of time, since the prophets time, since Jesus time on earth and now in the 21st century.  The heart of man will always be desperately wicked above all else unless it is born again, converted and surrendered to Jesus Christ.  The mistake that churches are making with this generation is they feel they must adapt and cater to this generation and are doing so in massive numbers.  They are changing all the rules and everything we know about doing church the right way, which is the Gospel way.  Unfortunately they are being deceived and duped and allowing the culture into the church. They are re-inventing the church wheel to a path that is demonic and evil.  The travesty for these churches is that the Bible clearly shows the right way to run a church, but many churches are rejecting truth and having fallen victim to the entitlement attitude and are leading millions to their own demise, judgement and hell.  The church is not preaching sin, repentance, salvation or conversion, but instead a James Brown doctrine of "I feel Good."

The fact is, Jesus has already left the criteria and groundwork for the church through Paul, Timothy, Peter and Titus. The fact is that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever and that message does not need to be changed.  The message of Jesus and salvation does not need a revamp or new message.  If Pastor's would just preach the word pure and unadulterated, rightly divide it, tell it like it is, and bring the truth and nothing but the truth, then the people on the receiving end of the message will respond and conform to the message.  It is the Bible being preached and the Holy Spirit that will change the human heart and not the Pastor, the decor of the church, the lights, music or whether the church is "cool" and with the crowd.  I can only imagine how Jesus is observing the church today in shock how few Pastors are preaching the word correctly and how defiled, heretic and fallen away the church is.  The church today has missed the mark in a big way and that is one of the reasons Jesus must return for the undefiled, spotless, blameless, holy church.  No Pastor's, we don't owe this generation anything but the truth.  If you have fallen into that trap of entitling every young person who comes into your church, then you have lost all of your authority as a Pastor.

I'm calling on all Pastor's to heed this warning and exhortation to not feel compelled or obligated to appease this generation, but instead to be true to Jesus and the Gospel.  Be obedient to your calling and follow Paul's instructions to the church and to Pastor's.  It is wrong and dangerous to change the commandments of the Bible as seen in the last command in the Bible found in Revelation 22:18. Lastly, we are not to be found as friends to this world, but instead change the world for Jesus.  Too many Pastor's are worried about what the world thinks rather than what Jesus thinks.  They do interviews with secular media outlets and are found talking their way out of sin, conviction and salvation.  Instead of telling the interviewer the truth, they show arrogance by saying the church has to change to meet the demands of the generation.  That is a big mistake because the Bible was written to change mankind and not the other way around.  The Holy Spirit's function in the church is to convict the world of its sins and Jesus came to save the world of its sins so they may have eternal life.  Anything more than that is heresy.  Church!  You don't have to change anything because Jesus is the Same Yesterday, Today and Forever.  Read and study your Bibles and ask the Holy Spirit what the truth is about your teachings and then the millennial's and all the generations will come to church for Jesus and not your watered down sermons, building, music or lights.

"Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: for he beholds himself, and goes his way, and straightway forgets what manner of man he was."

Recently I had to demote someone in my church for doing something that was contrary to the teachings of the Bible.  I have preached many a sermon on protecting ones testimony, avoiding the appearance of evil and walking as holy as possible, all with the help of the Holy Spirit.  This particular person sat for over 2 years listening and studying the sermons I've preached and yet managed to not apply what was taught.  This is a sad place to be as a Christian because James is giving us some of the most practical advice found in the Bible to avoid foolishness, displeasure and sin against God.  He tell us in this passage to not just know it in your head, but apply it with your heart and actions.  All this person had to do was apply what he heard and he would still be in that position.  These words about doing and not just hearing are a fool proof piece of advice for anyone to follow, but unfortunately as it is stated in Proverbs 1:7, "Fools despise wisdom and instruction."

Seeing Christians fall from grace is probably one of the most burdening experiences as a Pastor.  Pastors work very hard to keep their flock within the bounds of the word of God so that they remain in His will, but unfortunately it only takes one temptation for Satan to put in front of us for one to fall.  We are all one decision and temptation away from coming out of God's will and yet, God has given us a sure way to avoid anyone from being out of His will.  The help for our afflictions and temptations can be found in two powerful passages where one can escape the wiles of the devil and do what God says, rather than just hear.  The first one is found in the book of James 4:7-10 where it says: "Submit yourselves therefore to God, Resist the Devil, and he shall flee from you.  Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.  Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up."

The next words of wisdom come from 1 Corinthians 10: 13-14 where it states "There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able but will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it. Wherefore flee from idolatry." In both books Paul and James have given us clues and answers to prevent us from falling from grace and into a lifestyle of sin.  The clues hidden in these passages are practice and obedience.

In the book of James there are several clues with the first one being to submit to God.  You can't serve two masters Jesus said and so when one is tempted he must be sober minded and choose who he will serve at that moment.  By submitting to God one needs to know Satan can't do anything without God's permission.  Every believer must know this truth that Satan has power, but it is limited.  The problem is that people allow Satan to have that power, and then run with him without trying to resist, fight or avoid his temptations. There isn't one born again Christian who will not feel conviction before sin is conceived. No Christian has an excuse to go ahead with conviction they feel and then continue with the behavior that leads to sin.  By submitting to God first, it immediately places the authority on God, and Satan has to flee from tempting you further.  The following are the words we can use as part of our defense system against Satan:

1.) Submit
2.) Resist
3.) Draw
4.) Repent = Cleanse, purify, be afflicted, mourn, weep,
5.) Humble yourself

First is to submit to almighty God, Second is to resist, fight against this force we are up against and we must not allow our feelings to dictate our behavior when it comes to sinful behavior, but instead the Holy Spirit's convictions. Third, we must draw near to God so that He will draw near to us. In other words God will NOT violate your free will even in sin, and so we must use Him as our first line of defense before offending Him and His commands.  Many Christians wait until they commit the sin to then draw near and ask for forgiveness.  Obviously James is warning us that the temptation will be strong and so we must fight hard to break free from the devil's snare.

The fourth words of wisdom is to repent by cleansing our hands, being afflicted, mourning and weeping, let your laughing be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.  This is how we show God our sincerity that we want to break free from anything that draws away from Him. How can we say we are sanctified and sin at the same time?  We must do our part of daily repentance and purifying so that we don't fall into temptation in the first place.  If we prevent something in the first place, it probably won't happen, and so we must use James advice of being afflicted and mourn and weep so we can recognize our weaknesses and daily need for God's strength.  Number five is one of the most crucial things we can do as Christians to gain favor with God.  He promises to lift us up if we humble ourselves in His sight, which means being in His presence.

The next line of defense to prevent us from falling comes from 1 Corinthians 10: 13-14, which I highlighted above.  Paul starts by saying there is no sin that will come out of nowhere and surprise you.  Most of all sins have been born at the Garden of Eden and passed through the generations.  Paul is basically telling us there is nothing new under the sun.  In the next sentence Paul reminds us that God is our rescuer and won't leave us to the wolves (demons).  God will not let you suffer through a temptation that you cannot bear, but instead will give you and make a way out.  He will show you the way to escape and to the door to freedom. If we do as Paul told us in verse 14 of 1 Corinthians we will always have the victory, and that powerful command is to "flee from idolatry."  If our faith is placed in Christ, nothing can possess, oppress, claim, over power, addict, provoke, maintain, imprison, or destroy is because of Jesus blood.  If we do as Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:10-18, we will find that escape route and door to freedom.

I realize there is a lot to take in here about what I wrote and it may seem like we have to do "works" in order to receive God's grace and strength, but the truth is Jesus made it easy for us because He is the one who gave us a way out to freedom, and continues to give us that freedom by what He did at the cross.  He defeated all of Satan's demonic power and gave us victory over darkness and death.  We are no longer slaves to sin.  All we have to as part of our responsibility is DO as the word says and not just hear. The word of God will help us do it with the power of the Holy Spirit.  If we want to find favor with God, please God and be blessed by God then let us do what he has been trying to get man to do since the beginning of time:  "Do" what He commands.  May these words and study Bless and Keep you.

"Friendship With The World Is Enmity with God"

As Christians we are supposed to be going in the exact opposite direction as the rest of the world.  If any Christian finds himself or herself behaving or adopting the thoughts, philosophies, patterns or belief's of this world, the Bible says you are an enemy of God.  Why would the book of James 4:4 state such strong language regarding friendship with the world?  2 Corinthians 4:4 proclaims that: "Satan is the god of this world", and in Ephesians 2:2 he is considered the "ruler of this world." God considers anyone who is influenced by Satan the "sons of disobedience."  In summary, this all means that Satan hates God and wants to put his strong influence on people with his philosophy, ideals, opinions, intentions, and views and will lead you astray and away from God's will.  He has an agenda and one agenda only, and that is to get you to be on his side.  Satan is opposite of who Jesus is and so he is going against what God has ordered and ordained in this world, making him an enemy of God.

Does that seem clear now that I have identified why James states that if we are friends with the world we are enemies of God?  That is enough warning for me to keep in check my loyalties and to where my praise, dedication and attention are being given to.  Too many Christians are too cozy with the world and seem to forget how serious God is when it comes to yoking with unbelievers.  In the passage I quoted above from James 4:4, a person who sides with the world and Satan is considered an adulterer.  It is scary to think and should put the fear of the Lord in us because God considers it spiritual fornication for any Christian or church to be in any kind of relationship with the world.  We are to take inventory and remove anything that hinders our walk and testimony as Christians.  1 Corinthians 6:19 says that "your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God, and you are not your own; you were bought with a price.  Therefore honor God with your bodies."  Your body consists of every part: the brain, organs, eyes, hands, feet, heart, etc.  We live in a church culture today where many Christians have adopted the politically correct stance of the world and get offended when someone tries to correct them, which now includes the Pastor's.

Christian's have a command they must obey in the Bible in the book of Hebrews Chapter 13 verse 17. It states: "Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give an account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you."  If your Pastor is trying to help you live a more holy life or is trying to redirect you away from this world's temptations, the Bible instructs you to not become disobedient or belligerent like unsaved people do.  The key word in the that passage is to submit.  They are accountable to tell you and you are responsible to listen and then follow through.  A Pastor should always correct his sheep with the intention of building you up and helping you mature spiritually.

Think of the word Enmity for a moment.  It means: the state or feeling actively opposed or hostile to someone or something.  Satan has made it so easy for the modern day Christian to sit back and enjoy all the world has to offer.  He has fooled churches and Christians alike to believe that being a disciple is hard and being in the world and his follower is easy.  He dangles so many sticks and carrots and proverbial apples to suck us in and put our ministry, prayer life and need for God in a corner.  Satan has succeeded at fooling people into using God as a convenience store God, where they only act like Christians on Sunday or when they're in a crisis or life threatening situation.  If you live like this you are guilty of idolatry, being lukewarm, and an enemy of God.  I want you to reflect on these closing words about our Father in heaven.  God has not had an epiphany on His throne in heaven where He has decided to accommodate sin.  Sin is still sin and he hates sin.  The Psalmist made it very clear in Psalm 5:4 that God does not delight in wickedness.  Revisit Proverbs 6:16-19 to see all the sins that are an abomination to God.  It's enough to make your teeth shatter.

I believe if enough Pastor's tell their congregations this then Satan can't fool them into thinking God has become politically correct.  You cannot allow Satan to harden your heart towards the things of God nor allow him to soften your stance on his evil world.  Adultery, drunkedness, fornication, lying, homosexuality, lesbianism, transgenderism, stealing, idolatry are sin and it will never change God's judgment or opinion towards it.  For some Christians they are in the battle of their lives trying to get victory over these sins.  One way I can advise for you to start to get the victory is to stay away from the world and all the lust in it, and instead commit to Psalm 119:11 where it says: "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you."  The worst thing we can do as believers is to be content with the things of this world.  The best thing we can do is delve into our ministries, help the church, read God's word, pray, fellowship with believer's and make sure God is the only thing you worship.  With the help of the Holy Spirit you can finally dispose of the things of this world and live for Jesus Christ and Him only.  Paul eloquently tells us in Galatians 6:9 "Do not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."  If you need help fighting this battle, call on me and I will pray for you and go to battle with you.

"What is the meaning of the Parable of the Sower?"

Continuing the series on Jesus' parables today's teaching is on The Parable of the Sower (also known as the Parable of the Four Soils).  This teaching is found in Matthew 13:3-9;Mark 4:2-9; and Luke 8:4-8. After presenting this parable to the multitude, Jesus interprets it for His disciples in Matthew 13:18-23; Mark 4:13-20; and Luke 8:11-15.

The Parable of the Sower is in regards to a sower who scatters seed, which falls on four different types of ground. The hard ground “by the way side” prevents the seed from sprouting at all, and the seed becomes nothing more than bird food. The stony ground provides enough soil for the seeds to germinate and begin to grow, but because there is “no deepness of earth,” the plants do not take root and are soon withered in the sun. The thorny ground allows the seed to grow, but the competing thorns choke the life out of the beneficial plants. The good ground receives the seed and produces much fruit.

Jesus’ explanation of the Parable of the Sower highlights four different responses to the gospel. The seed is “the word of the kingdom.” The hard ground represents someone who is hardened by sin; he hears but does not understand the Word, and Satan plucks the message away, keeping the heart dull and preventing the Word from making an impression. The stony ground pictures a man who professes delight with the Word; however, his heart is not changed, and when trouble arises, his so-called faith quickly disappears. The thorny ground depicts one who seems to receive the Word, but whose heart is full of riches, pleasures, and lusts; the things of this world take his time and attention away from the Word, and he ends up having no time for it. The good ground portrays the one who hears, understands, and receives the Word—and then allows the Word to accomplish its result in his life. The man represented by the “good ground” is the only one of the four who is truly saved, because salvation’s proof is fruit (
Matthew 3:7-8; 7:15-20).

To summarize the point of the Parable of the Sower: “A man’s reception of God’s Word is determined by the condition of his heart.” An addition lesson is that “Salvation is more than a superficial, albeit joyful, hearing of the gospel. Someone who is truly saved will show the world without compromise and with the utmost sacrifice.”   They bear their cross and follow Jesus no matter the cost.  Our faith and Godly lives will bear much fruit and this will be accomplished by the "good soil" in the Parable of the Sower.

"What is the meaning of the Parable of the Mustard Seed?"

We continue the series on the parables that Jesus taught.  This week the lesson is on the Parable of the Mustard Seed.  The purpose of the Parable of the Mustard Seed is to teach a concept to show the small and big picture in the message. Concepts, and analogies are used like birds, weeds, and growth, that are common, easily recognized, and usually representational of something else.  The reason that Jesus used parables is that parables teach a concept or idea by using word pictures.  Jesus used simple, yet powerful words and depictions to bring the message home and make it clear. In our modern day Jesus teachings are very powerful, and we can still understand the main point and concepts. The Parable of the Mustard Seed, covers many areas but still uses a singular message, which helps the reader know what Jesus was trying to teach.

The Parable of the Mustard Seed is contained in all three of the synoptic gospels. However, the Gospel of Matthew provides us with the most peripheral information, as it includes one parable before and after the mustard seed parable, each teaching on the same subject. Each of the three parables: the weeds among the wheat, the mustard seed, and the yeast have six common elements in them, providing structure which helps us to interpret the individual parables. The common elements are (1) a similitude about "the kingdom of heaven," the earthly sphere of profession both true and false; (2) “a man,” Christ; (3) “a field,” the world; (4) “seed,” the Word of God or its effect; (5) ”growth” or “spreading,” church growth; and (6) the presence of evil, symbolized by weeds, birds of the air, and yeast.

The Parable of the Mustard Seed was taught in rhetorical hyperbole. Here, Jesus uses a shrub/tree coming from a seed (
John 12:24) to represent kingdom growth, consistent with other tree/kingdom references (Ezekiel 17:23 and Daniel 4:11-21). The seed’s growth attracts the presence of evil—depicted as birds (Matthew 13:4,19; Revelation 18:2)—to dilute the church while taking advantage of its benefits.

So, the picture painted in the Parable of the Mustard Seed by Jesus is of the humble beginnings of the church experiencing an explosive rate of growth. It grows large and becomes a source of food, rest, and shelter, for both believers and false professing individuals that seek to consume or take advantage of its benefits while residing or mixing among what was produced by the seed (
1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:7; 2 Corinthians 11:13;Galatians 1:7). In other words, Jesus predicts that, while the church will grow extremely large from just a small start, it will not remain pure. While this is not a condemnation of the "bigness" of modern Christianity, it does show us the greatest burden that comes with it. The Parable of the Mustard Seed is both a prediction and a warning. May we listen to its message.

How God used a Rahab and Gideon in Kentucky to stop Satan and the homosexuals in their tracks in Florida

As a Pastor it is a very difficult balance between loving someone and at the same time pointing out behavior that leads to sin.  I have not, nor has any pastor made up the concept of sin.  God has determined what is best for mankind and as servants and minister's of God, we are in the business of leading them to Christ to restore and save the human soul.  God has proclaimed that sin which entered into the world through Adam (Roman's 5:12) has separated men and women from Him.  It is very clear in the Bible that if we sin, we are separated from God.  The only acceptable reconciliation is the cross of Jesus Christ where He died for the sins of the world to reconcile us back to God.  The message is this:  If you die without the Lord Jesus as your Savior, you will have eternal death and punishment coming to you.  This includes any lifestyle, status, position, gender, race or religion.  Read at the bottom of this page for the plan of salvation to avoid eternal death.

I am not a pastor to make up God's laws but rather to help relay them and quite frankly don't have a choice when it comes to picking which ones I like.  This current president has tried to do exactly what God says to NOT do in His word and that is add or change any of His laws.  We are to follow them and that's it.  Obama tried to play God and remake laws of nature, but it is going to backfire in a big way.  We already see it with states taking measures into their own hands.  I say this with the upmost sincerity, I feel sorry for Obama for messing with God's natural order of things.

I recently sent a letter to the Mayor of Orlando Buddy Dyer where he personally performed gay weddings at the steps of city hall.  I wrote to tell him he is an elected official and that he could not pick and choose what causes he was going to support, and that he must remain neutral if there is a conflict for his office.  An elected official represents all the people and if he is going to perform a gay wedding then he must also preach the Bible in front of city hall as well.  He well knows as a mayor that millions are against gay marriage and yet went ahead and snubbed the people.  Imagine if he stood on the steps of city hall as an elected official and preached about Jesus and the uproar from the media and the gay community would be?  Mayor Dyer should be ashamed of himself.

It is obvious that the world wide deception is at a fever pitch and every day Satan is trapping more and more people into believing all the lies he has conjured up and twisted from the word of God.  This time it's the lie that the lesbian, bisexaul, gay, and transgender (LBGT) lifestyle is legal and ok in God's eyes.  This is a topic I don't know where to start because there has been so much deception and lying and I can go on writing about it for days.  The fact is I don't have to write about whether or not this lifestyle is permissible or not with God.  I hope most Christians know what the Bible says.  Unfortunately though there are some wolves in sheep's clothing who have infiltrated our churches who refuse to obey God's position on it.  They are prime for judgment if they don't repent of their sins.  Pastor's nor Christians can make up their own personal agenda on the gay issue and expect God to be pleased.

The fact is most of the LBGT community probably knows what the Bible says about this behavior as well, but they too do not accept it and refuse to abide by God's laws of nature.  All one has to do is read Roman's chapter's 1-2 and you will clearly see God's position on this choice of a lifestyle and the repercussions.  The big mistake pastor's and Christian's make is they try to defend the Bible as if they themselves wrote the rules, however, all Christians have to do is defer and refer back to the Bible and let any sinner know God said it and I abide by it.

Well in this upside down world we're living in where good has become evil and evil good (Isaiah 5:20) something really big and momentous has taken place in the great state of Florida.  The Florida legislator is not having any deception and lies from Satan or the LBGT's and rebuked all attempts of allowing the LBGT community to unlawfully sue or violate a Christian's convictions.  I can proudly say they "came out" and voted FOR House Bill No. 43, Chapter 2016-50.  Finally someone is not drinking the Kool Aid!  I have included details of the bill below.

To Obama, the supreme court and LBGT community I have this to say to you directly from the words of Jesus Christ, the King of all kings and the messiah of this world:  "...the gates of hell will not prevail against my church."  The fact is that Obama the supreme court, and the LBGT community committed blasphemy by trying to make this a civil rights issue by comparing the LBGT lifestyle with that of the slave movement.  There is no comparison and I would be appalled If I am African American for them trying to use your suffering for their perversion.  I can't think of any nightly reports on the news where gays can't ride on buses, can't drink from community water fountains, are being hung from trees, are being beaten by the police with German shepherds, are segregated from society, are not able to work, recreate or live freely.  Actually it is to the contrary, they participate just like any other free American.  You see it's all deception to try to get laws passed so that the church and the message of Jesus becomes one of hate, persecution and powerlessness.  I have a message for the entire world:  It's not happening because Jesus will not permit it!  There are laws in place to protect all American citizens and this group should not any way get special privileges so that they can try to destroy the church.

It is appalling that the Kentucky clerk of court, Kim Davis had to be used as pawn to punish anyone who disagrees with a lifestyle that goes against holiness.  This was a feeble attempt against a strong Christian woman to defy God.  Thank God for Kim Davis who acted like Deborah from the Bible in a precarious time for Christians.

I want to personally thank Mrs. Davis for standing up for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and not Satan.  Mrs. Davis was in the same position as Jesus when Satan asked Jesus to betray God. Mrs. Davis was in the same position as the disciples of Jesus where they could have stood with Him or betray Him, but she chose Jesus.  I thank God Mrs. Davis was not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Without this one person's convictions and sufferings, there would not even be a discussion about this new law enacted to protect Christian's.  I don't know Mrs. Davis, but I want to personally thank her. She has ignited a passion in me and to preach the truth no matter what.  When I tell my children of heroes in our world trust me, I won't be mentioning president's, athlete's or entertainers, but will tell of Mrs. Davis heroism.  This is a big win for the church and Christian businesses, but let me remind all Christians the battle for marriage has just begun. This is no time to let up.  Unfortunately it took Mrs. Davis being punished for this law to take birth.  If we had more Pastor's who had the courage and integrity of Mrs. Davis we probably wouldn't be in this position to begin with.  There is a lot of work to do to undue the moral mess that Obama has made.  We must show Obama and the government that we will not bow down to tyranny of any form.

I am proud of the Florida legislator's who used extreme wisdom and prudence in enacting this law.  Unlike the supreme court who will be harshly judged for defying God, this Florida legislature will be honored as well as any other state who follows their path.  My request to all Christians is to please call the Florida Governor's office and the Florida Senate and thank them for passing this much needed law.  If anyone needs special protections right now from the government it is Christians and not the LBGT movement.

Do you know the irony in all this?  Obama is the one who should be jailed for breaking the law by not enforcing it and telling his administration to not enforce marriage laws, and Kim Davis should be praised for following the law, which is the 1st amendment and her right.  A lawless president and a law abiding citizen, the law abiding citizen goes to jail.  This must never happen again in America!

You Don't Lie Under The Moon For A Sun Tan

Colossians 2:10

The statement Do not lie under the moon for a sun tan sounds a bit peculiar.  How absurd for one to actually think you can get a tan from the moon.  It will all make sense once I share this weeks sermon.  My sermon this week was from Colossians 2:10 "And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power."  The "Him" written here is Jesus Christ.  The point of not going to the moon for a sun tan is obvious.  You have to go to the source for a sun tan.  In this example it is of course, the sun.  Sounds obvious, but after working as a counselor and you hear some of the absurd choices people make it begs the question why do people do what they do?  The answer seems complicated, but in reality it is simple: Stop trying to be complete in something other than Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.

It is ludicrous to think you can get a sun tan from the moon, but it wouldn't surprise me these days.  Well it is just as ludicrous to think one can be complete in any other source than Jesus Christ.  You are 100% complete in Him and nothing less.  Running to any other source to be complete is just as much a waste as it is trying to get a sun tan from the moon.  An even harsher reality in relation to the Christian life and borrowing from the moon and sun analogy is, why would a Christian go to Satan (darkness) to be complete when you have the light (Jesus Christ) to complete you.

Jesus is the head of all principalities and power.  There is no other source.  As a matter of fact Colossians 1:16 says that "For by Him were all things created that are in heaven, and that are in earth visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities or powers all things were created by Him and for Him.  And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist."  Now try to justify putting your trust in anything other than Jesus after reading this verse.  That to me is a sobering and an eye opening reality that Jesus controls everything, even everything in the evil world.   You see Satan uses his limited power, schemes, fiery darts, deception, delusion, confusion, fortresses and lies to get us away from God's will or from ever learning about salvation.  He is a master at redirecting our energies from Jesus, and it seems to work with the majority of the world.  Jesus, however, came to bring those walls down that Satan put up and nailed it to the cross.  Jesus victory at the cross gives us full access to Him and His power.  Colossians 2:15 says "And having spoiled all principalities and powers He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it."

It truly baffles me how Christians are blinded by Satan and do not fully understand the new covenant that God made with man.  That command is found in Matthew 22:37 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."  How does one do that if their energies are in something else.  It is impossible to love God with all your heart, soul and mind and go to another source and do the same.  Again, why would anyone run from the source?  I will try to bring the message home by giving some pretty absurd examples here: If you are trying to get directions to travel why would you use a typewriter to give you directions?  Absurd?  If you are trying to save money for retirement why would you go to a casino?  Absurd?  If you are trying to lose weight why would you go to a buffet everyday?  Absurd?  If you need to fix your car why would you go to a physic?  Dumb, dumb, dumb is all I can think, and I hope you get the point.  We must use the right source completely.

There are many people who have strongholds, are in addictions, bondage, self-destructive behaviors or living a life that does not glorify God.  The common thread is that they have all put their source in something other than Christ to complete them.   All one has to do is read what the Apostle Paul told us in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 to understand which source to run to in order to have complete victory over any human challenge and to be complete in Christ.  "For though we walk in the flesh , we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds; casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ, and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled."

The title for this writing states that you shouldn't lie under the moon for a sun tan.  To sum up all I have been trying to say the last 2 weeks in regards to spiritual adultery and trusting something other than Christ to complete you lies in this powerful verse and should pretty much settle it.  Proverbs 3:5-6 says "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not on thine own understanding.  In all thine ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."

For us to be complete we must first ask what? and who? are we trusting.  When you are in Christ you are not 20% complete, 50% complete or 75% or even 99% complete.  No, you are 100% complete in Christ!  The next time you find yourself in a bind, lost, confused, misguided, feeling down, persecuted, alone, discouraged, overwhelmed and so on, ask yourself am I lying under the moon trying to get a sun tan?

I am My Beloved's and My Beloved is Mine
   A Message on Spiritual Adultery

This weeks message I will be preaching on the topic of spiritual adultery.  Spiritual adultery is a form of idolatry which is forbidden in the Bible.  Let's take a closer look at this topic so we can examine our lives and see if we are in any way guilty of it.  It is a dangerous place to be with God and we should deal with it immediately if we are to right with God and in His will.

Spiritual adultery is unfaithfulness to God and a love for the things of the world. It is cheating against a God who is faithful and would never do that to us.  Spiritual adultery is the same action as when one is unfaithful to their spouse: “‘But like a woman faithless to her lover, even so have you been faithless to me, O house of Israel,’ says the LORD” (Jeremiah 3:20; see also Isaiah 1:21; 57:8; Ezekiel 16:30).  The Bible tells us that people who choose to be friends with the world are an “adulterous people” having “enmity against God” (James 4:4–5). The “world” here is the system of evil under Satan’s control (John 12:31;Ephesians 2:2; 1 John 5:19).  The world system, with its contrived and deceitful scheme of phony values, worthless pursuits, and unnatural affections, is designed to lure us away from a pure relationship with God. Spiritual adultery, then, is the forsaking of God’s love and the embracing of the world’s values and desires (Romans 8:7–8; 2 Timothy 4:10; 1 John 2:15–17).

Spiritual adultery includes any form of idolatry, and such was the case in the Old Testament where the children of Israel tried to mix the worship of other gods such as Baal with that of God (
Judges 3:7; 1 Kings 16:31–33; Jeremiah 19:5).  Israel was guilty of spiritual adultery and became like an adulterous wife who wanted both a husband and another lover (Jeremiah 9:2;Ezekiel 6:9; 16:32). In the New Testament, James defines spiritual adultery as claiming to love God while cultivating friendship with the world (James 4:4–5). The Bible boldly prohibits this behavior and clearly states you can not have it both ways. The person who commits spiritual adultery is one who professes to be a Christian yet finds his real love and pleasure in the things that Satan offers. For believers, the love of the world and the love of God are contrary to one another and should never be combined. Believers committing spiritual adultery may claim to love the Lord, but, in reality, they are captivated by the pleasures of this world, its influence, comforts, financial security, and so-called freedoms.

The concept of spiritual adultery against God is a major theme throughout the Old Testament (
Isaiah 54:5;Jeremiah 3:20; Ezekiel 16:15–19). This theme is illustrated especially well in the book of Hosea. The prophet’s wife, Gomer, symbolizes the infidelity of the children of Israel (Hosea 2:2–5; 3:1–5; 9:1). Hosea’s commitment to Gomer symbolizes God’s faithful, patient love with His erring people.

Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other” (
Matthew 6:24). The Bible exhorts us, “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world” (1 John 2:15–16). Believers must echo the words of the old hymn: “The world behind me, the cross before me; no turning back.”

“As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy’” (
1 Peter 1:14–16). Spiritual adultery is like trying to straddle the fence with one foot in the world and the other heaven.  Jesus warned the church in Laodicea, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth” (Revelation 3:15–16).

The love of the world is primarily an attitude of one’s heart and devotion.  A Christian can make things right with God by divorcing themselves from the world and by following the new covenant commandment in Luke 10:27to love God with all your heart soul, mind and strength. To avoid spiritual adultery, “set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (
Colossians 3:2, KJV).  When you think of marriage and the vows you took on the altar you didn't say if things go well then you will be faithful and love your spouse.  No, you made the commitment to be faithful and love that person for better or worse.  Why don't Christians and the church do the same? The question that remains in relation to the title saying "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine": Are you God's and is God yours?

"Woe to the Pastor's that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord."  Jeremiah 23:1

This verse speaks for itself and depicts very strong words from the book of Jeremiah.  I would not want to be a Pastor during this church age and disobey the Lord and His commands.  The Lord is counting on Pastor's to bring people to repentance, build a pure relationship with him and present the church holy and without spot or blemish (Ephesians 5:27). The truth is there are countless Pastor's who are taking their position as a joke and are consciously committing blasphemy in the church and against His word.  Paul has given a clear directive in Titus chapter 1 that ALL Pastor's must be above reproach.  Every prophesy that has been given in the Bible has come true and not one has been missed calculated or wrong.  The prophesy given by Jesus in the Gospels, and by Paul, Peter, Jude, Titus, and John in Revelation about false Pastor's are also right on.  Read what each of these books has to say about false prophets and you will be amazed at their pin point accuracy.  The church is right smack in the middle of that prophecy today, and it is happening right before our eyes.  It is sickening what is taking place in the churches today between the fake prosperity gospel, fake healings, to the watered down grace message with no mention of repentance of sin or the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

The church has become a place where the world culture has found its way into the doors of the church, including a place of recreation, entertainment, dating, gossip, filth, division and fellowship gatherings rather than the Holy House of God.  People don't go to church to get well spiritually anymore, but instead, what they go for is to feel good and get something out of it rather than something in it; and what's in the church is Jesus.  If Jesus were to give all of the churches a commendation or condemnation of each churches performance just like He did in the book of Revelation, most would receive a condemnation.  Both words sound similar but they are far from it.  A commendation is good news and a condemnation is bad news.  And who is to blame for this?  The Pastor.  The Pastor has been placed as the shepherd and gate keeper of that house called church and all its inhabitants.  The Pastor has been given a clear set of guidelines and rules from the books of Timothy and Titus to ensure nothing goes wrong in the church, and yet from what we see today the job performance of many are sub-par and poor and they should have gotten pink slips a long time ago.  Let's take a look at the expectation of a Pastor once he steps behind the pulpit. These letters are called Pastoral Epistles and outline his job.  2 Timothy 4:1-5 "I charge thee therefore God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom; Preach the word, be instant in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves, teachers having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned into fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry" Titus 1:7 A Pastor must be the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not accused of riot or unruly.  He must be blameless, as the steward of God, not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; but a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate.  Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.  For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision.  Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teachings things which they ought not, for filthy lucre sake."

The list is just too long to list of what is taking place every day in churches around the world and the Pastor's leading the charge.  See if you can match up the list from Paul and Titus above with this list below.  Below is a short list to outline the heresy, apostasy and downright evil taking place right at the front door of the church.

Woe to the Pastor's!!!
1.) Having affairs with other woman, men and children
2.) Stealing from the church including tithes and offerings for their own gain
3.) Drinking and doing drugs and allowing this behavior to go uncontested in the church
4.) Performing homosexual and lesbian weddings
5.) Preaching false doctrine
6.) Preaching another Gospel
7.) Becoming celebrities
8.) Conforming to the patterns of this world
9.) Allowing perversion and sensuality from women in the church
10.) Allowing women to be ordained
11.) Allowing women to preach
12.) Allowing women to have authority over a man
13.) Allowing divorce uncontested
14.) Permitting division in the church
15.) Promoting mega churches and seeker sensitive congregations
16.) Living like Hollywood
17.) Playing worldly music in worship services

What are we to do if we are ever to bring the church back to holiness with the Pastor as the leader of this movement?   First and foremost we need to do background checks on all Pastors.  Second the church has to have the guidelines and roles and rules for a Pastor before hiring one.  Third, the church needs to demand sound preaching directly from the word of God and not some made up, story telling, watered down version of the Gospel.  The church needs to replace Pastor's who have fallen from grace (and yes forgive him) and give another godly, willing man a chance to do the job the right way.  The Pastor can remain once forgiven, but must remain in the pews.  The church must not compromise no matter what the truth of the Bible and remove anyone Pastor or person who tries to defile it.  If sin, forgiveness, repentance, the Jesus Christ and Him crucified, and grace and mercy are not preached, walk out of that church, it's false.  All of these are relevant and scriptural.

Think about this for a moment.  Would you allow a doctor, dentist, cardiologist or surgeon perform work on you without qualifications?  Would you keep them as your doctor if they committed a crime or violated their code of ethics.  Well, hopefully you said no!  A Pastor's job is a much higher calling than any other vocation on planet earth.  They' re dealing with your eternal soul.  My prayer is that first Pastor's go back to basics and seek God's face and voice to see if they are even in God's will as a Pastor.  Is this really your calling?  Second, the Pastor needs to be able to preach from the Bible and take it as the final authority and not as a choice or opinion.  If the Bible says God is for it, He's for it, if God says in the Bible He's against it, He's against it.  We cannot pick and choose what we are going to obey and when.  Third, we are to preach the whole counsel of God and use no other manual period.   Pastor's don't have to re-invent the wheel.  The word of God and Holy Spirit does the convicting and the Pastor does the preaching.

In the Psalm 23 Jesus gives a clear picture of His role as Shepherd.  If all Pastor's took on the same mind of Jesus during His ministry we wouldn't be in the crisis we are in at the church.  We need to be obedient and be counted on because man and government cannot do it.  To all Pastor's and churches who have read this summary: memorize this verse Jeremiah 23:1 and hold yourself accountable as a Pastor and those in the congregation, to the saints, hold the Pastor's accountable.  You will save them from a multitude of sins and woes.  The book of Titus will give all those reviewing a Pastor's qualifications the requirements to be a Pastor.  It also gives the members in chapter 2 how they are supposed to behave and live as Godly people.  Knowing these things will inevitably make the Pastor's job easier if everyone is in the will of God.  Pastor means shepherd: A person who protects, guides, and watches over a group of people.   Pastor's DON'T scatter the sheep or destroy them, but instead take care of them.  Everyone in the church should say the Pastor is like Jesus, and he is my Shepherd, I shall not want.  He leads me to Jesus Christ.  Here's my challenge to all Pastor's and those that are under His umbrella:  Read Jeremiah 23:1 every day and commit it to memory.  I think that's a good start!  Something to think about: Is your name the Pastor or Judas?
